Francisco, like his close
friend Santiago Olazabal,
derives his art through serious
study and practise from the
rich cultural and religious
imagery and words brought
to Cuba by slaves,
predominantly from the tribe
of the Yoruba.
In addition to working with
that ancient imagery, he often
adds political points-of-view,
making very contemporary
statements.
