Ylienes is a young painter in the surrealist mode. Her work is detailed and labor-intensive, distinctly feminine and shows a delicious sense of humor. She’s also an art teacher at a school for children aged 5 to 8 years old in the Jesus Maria barrio in Old Havana. Her pupils’ work has recently caught the attention of UNICEF, and they’ve been supportive with materials and the promotion of exhibits.
